Accessing Our Support

Accessing support at a difficult time might feel overwhelming and intimidating. At Sheffield Women’s Aid, we aim to reassure you, keeping you informed and offering advice through each step of the referral process.

Step 1 - Contact SWA or Sheffield Housing

While we don't accept direct referrals for our service, we are more than willing to clarify how to access our support. To be directed to our refuge services, please reach out to Sheffield Housing either by phone at 0114 273 6306 or by visiting Howden House.

Step 2 - Housing Assessment

Once you've established contact with Sheffield Housing, whether it's through a face-to-face meeting or telephone communication, they will conduct an assessment to ascertain the specific assistance you may require. This evaluation will include questions about your current and past situations and aims to understand the type of support you might need from the refuge.

Step 3 - We’ll be in touch

In the event that we have refuge or dispersed accommodations available, Sheffield Housing will get in touch with SWA (Sheffield Women's Aid), who will subsequently reach out to you. When we contact you, we may pose further questions to better understand how we can provide you with the most effective support. Once we have all our details, we will then organise a time and date with you to come to the refuge.

If Sheffield Women’s Aid can’t help…

There are numerous factors that may determine that our organization isn't the most suitable to assist you, and in such a situation, we would guide you back to housing to guarantee that you receive support from the appropriate organization.
