History of Sheffield Women’s Aid

Sheffield Women’s Aid are a small charity established in 1974 solely based in Sheffield but housing women and children from anywhere in the UK who need a place of safety. The charity has been providing emergency accommodation for women and children that have suffered and survived domestic and sexual abuse and violence for over 45 years. We accommodate women aged 16+ and their children (of any age or gender) if they depend on their Mum for their personal well-being and can accommodate larger families.

We currently have two refuges in Sheffield. One refuge has 16 self-contained flats and the other has 20. Both stand in secluded gardens with areas to relax and opportunities for children to play. Please see our gallery for pictures of the flats, gardens and the other facilities on offer.
